The short version
- Your scripts and your speech are processed entirely on your Mac. They are never sent to us or to any third party.
- The camera is used only for local gaze detection. No video or images are recorded, stored, or uploaded.
- The only personal data we ever receive is an email address, if you choose to join the waitlist.
This policy explains what FACE THE CAMERA ("we", "us") does with your information — both the Mac app and this website. Our design principle is simple: the confidential parts of your work never leave your device.
Your scripts and speech stay on your Mac
FACE THE CAMERA is a teleprompter. The scripts you paste often contain confidential business information, so they are stored only on your Mac and are never transmitted to us or anyone else.
Speech following uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Audio from your microphone is processed locally, in real time, on your Mac to align the prompter to your delivery. We do not record audio, and no speech or transcript is ever sent off your device or to us.
The camera and the post-session report
If you enable the eye-contact report, the app uses your camera to detect one thing: whether you glanced down at your notes. This runs on-device using Apple's Vision framework. No frames are saved, and no video or image ever leaves your Mac. The resulting report (a grade, your pace, and timestamps) is stored locally so you can review it after a call.
What we store on our servers
For the app itself: nothing. FACE THE CAMERA has no account system for its core features and sends us no usage data, scripts, audio, or video.
Waitlist email
If you enter your email on this site, we use it for a single purpose: to send you one message when the app is available. The submission is handled by our forms provider, Formspree, which stores it on our behalf. We do not sell or share your email, and you can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing privacy@facethecamera.app.
Payments
When paid plans launch, purchases will be handled by a third-party payment processor (such as Paddle or Stripe). They process your card details under their own privacy terms; we never see or store your full payment information.
Website analytics
This site loads no third-party trackers or advertising cookies. If we add privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics in the future, we will update this page first.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you (in practice, at most your waitlist email), and ask us to correct or delete it. Because your scripts, audio, and video never reach us, there is nothing on our side to export or erase for those.
