Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FACE THE CAMERA application ("the App") and this website (together, "the Service"), provided by Face the Camera ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, backing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
FACE THE CAMERA is a teleprompter for macOS that displays your script near your camera, follows your voice on-device, hides itself from screen sharing, and can produce an on-device eye-contact report. Features, availability, and pricing may change as the product develops, especially ahead of and during our crowdfunding launch.
2. Pre-launch and crowdfunding
The App is not yet generally available. Pledges made through a crowdfunding platform (such as BackerKit) are governed by that platform's terms in addition to these. Backing the campaign is a pledge to support development and, where stated, to receive the App and any promised rewards at launch — it is not a guarantee of a specific ship date. We will make reasonable efforts to deliver what we describe.
3. Your content
You keep all rights to the scripts, audio, and other content you use with the App. Because that content is processed on your own Mac and is not transmitted to us, we do not access, store, or claim any rights to it. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you load into the App.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to reverse engineer it except as permitted by law, reselling or redistributing it without permission, or using it to violate the rights of others or any applicable law. The screen-share invisibility feature is provided so you can present naturally; you are responsible for using it lawfully and in good faith.
5. Licenses and payment
When paid plans are available, they are offered under the pricing shown at the time of purchase. Subscriptions renew until cancelled, and payments are handled by third-party processors under their own terms. Taxes may apply. Refund eligibility follows the applicable platform's policy and any statutory rights you have.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, or that screen-share invisibility or gaze detection will behave identically across every app, version, or configuration — you should verify behavior for your own setup before relying on it in a high-stakes meeting.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
8. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. When we do, we'll revise the date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
